Occupy LA – 99% of us are in this thing with the banks and the rich rich folks who don’t want to pay taxes and get the economic structure back on board. What do you think? What does this have to do with Insurance? Well, part of the problem is the drug companies are getting richer raising prices of RX and drugs raising the price of Health Insurance. Have you shopped for Health Insurance lately? $7500 deductible before the drug coverage kicks in. What?

It is almost 1AM in Los Angeles, CA and there are more cops than peaceful protesters – are we in a police state? DO they change the rules as they go along? First they wanted people out cuz the grass was getting ruined and it would cot $40,000 to replace the parks and the grass. Now the May of LA is worried about children in the camps. Just recently the cops pulled out all the tents. Now center camp is being removed. The cops each have 20 – 100 plastic rings to arrest people and put around their wrists when they arrest these peaceful protesters. When is something going to be done?

How can we change what is going on? Where did they come up with all this money to pay the police?

I had a client try to purchase Business Insurance in Los ANgeles and the Insurance Company wanted them to fix the cracks in the sidewalk. They called and wrote Los Angeles requesting LA to fix the cracks and they wrote back that it was not in their budget but the client can fix the sidewalks if they wanted to. Where is the money going? Why do they have the money to pay cops for this and nothing for our bridges, roads, sidewalks.

Occupy LA has been very peaceful. Cops are trying to push people and start fights. Soon the cops will have to go to the bathroom. How long will the cops stand up and be brutal tonight?

Cops are at 1st and Main guarding the downtown Police area.

Recent picture approximately 1AM 11/30/11 Occupy LA

Now people are being arrested. Remember the cops are in the 99% area, too. 99% of us are the poor – and if this keeps going – cops won’t have jobs either. People have cameras, masks on – signs stating 99%. These are educated people in this peaceful protest. These are people documenting history. People are smoking pot right in front of the LAPD and News reporters.

Nothing is violent. It is peaceful. Where is the 1st Amendment here?

Occupy LA 1 AM November 30, 2011

Recent photo of peaceful protesters.

Now police in HazMat outfits are arresting peaceful protesters in LosAngeles. We see the Chief of the Police here – how much overtime does he make an hour?

How soon will all the crowds be back in the encampment area in Los Angeles?

They just arrested someone and carried them to a bus – corner of Spring and 5th.

Cops in HazMat suits are writing things down. What are they writing down – at least 5 in a group all busy writing stuff down. Must be 5 cops per peaceful protester.

Let’s hope President Obama can get congress to pass some laws to get the economic environment back in shape by 2012.

What are your thoughts? Suggestions?

Ending a marriage it stressful enough without all the added details and emotional yuck. To eliminate problems in advance here are some tips to take while going through a divorce.

Tips to help with your divorce.

Before the Divorce

You know you’re going to split up. You are mentally going back and forth ~ should I go or should I stay.

1. First off ~ when you first separate get separate Car Insurance Policies. Still list both your names.
Put both your names on the policy – but put your name first and your address. This will keep you covered in case your ex decides not to pay the policy.

2. If you move out of the house get yourself a theft policy. Their will not be any coverage from the existing policy you have.

3. Get liability coverage for the place you are in now. Usually this is about $20 a year. You can do this by adding an endorsement to your current homeowner’s policy.

4. Get a renter’s policy – usually about $150 a year.

5. Until your divorce is final keep both name’s on your homeowner’s policy. Both parties have an equal interest in the home until your divorce is final.

Now your divorce is final.

After Your Divorce

1. Health Insurance. If you are covered on your spouse’s Health Insurance plan – get coverage within 30 days of the divorce being final.

2. If you cannot qualify for Health Insurance look into getting COBRA coverage .

3. Make sure you are the owner of your Life Insurance policy. Make sure the billing address is your new address. Change the beneficiaries from your ex to your children or others. Reevaluate your Life Insurance needs. You may be required to buy more.

4. You might want to look into disability insurance now because your spouse’s income will not cover your bills.

When ever you have major life changes all your insurance needs to be redone – especially divorce.

Re quote your Insurance every year!

Leave your comments to other ideas. Please share what experiences you have had that can help others to make this emotional time easier.

Health Insurance Monthly rates driving you crazy?

What is this website all about anyhow? We are here to help you save money and not pay high premiums.
What is a premium? It is your monthly payment. Are you still paying for pregnancy coverage and haven’t had a period in years? I spoke to another agent yesterday and it would surprise you how many agents do not tell there clients to change their plan.

You MUST re quote your Health Insurance Annually – if not more. Isn’t it worth it to save even $100 a month. That is $1200 – you could go to Hawaii on that. You could buy a ipad and still have money left over. If you saved $200 a month – you could buy a MacBookPro – which I have and love!

This sight is for real people seeking information to save money on their Health Insurance and still have coverage.

Basics of Health Insurance.
Know your Maximum out of pocket.
Know your RX coverages.
Know your Emergency room charges. Know where a Emergi Center is – because this will save you thousands of dollars.
Know how much out patient surgery will be.
Know how much Doctor visits will be.
Know the difference between In Network and Not In Network.

Learn about Health Savings Accounts. If you are paying major monthly for a low deductible – the only winner is the Insurance Company. Insurance is for something to go wrong. Not to cover every little thing.

Please let me know what the outcome is of your policy.

This site receives over 500 comments a day. Please respond to the questions about Health Insurance pricing, concerns, and how you have saved money. All other comments will be ignored or deleted.

If you want help with making a website – please contact me and also check out Resource Box along the top.

What Insurance do you need? Save Money before you start shopping with these tips.

You will need: Commercial General Liability
Worker’s Compensation
Health Insurance (Optional now)

Commercial General Liability will be quoted over a 3 day period after you fill out Acord forms 125 and 126.
The Insurance Companies need this information to evaluate how much coverage you will be open to.
Depending on the type of business they charge on payroll or sales.

If you are a new business and forgo getting Business Insurance you will have a really hard time down the road finding someone to cover your Business. I have markets that will do this for you and not penalize you.

The ‘Average’ Liability coverage is around $1500 a year. I just quoted on under $900 – so this is average. I have a client whose Liability is $30,000 a year – so it just depends.

Employees = Worker’s Compensation. It is a law and you must have this. State Fund is way out of site when it comes to pricing. Why? First off most of the time you are dealing directly with the Company – see my recent article about why it is better to buy from and Independent Insurance Broker vs going directly to the Insurance Company. OK – For instance you have a construction company and the code number = a dollar amount that is high. Do you think they will separate your office workers? Not if you don’t ask.

By calling around and finding an Independent Insurance Broker that represents Worker’s Compensation could save you $$$$Thousands of dollars a year.

Health Insurance is optional and alot of companies reward their good employees with a Policy. Individual Insurance is alot less than Group. And please – if you are on COBRA – get a Health Insurance quote = save your $$$$ thousands. Even if it is Guaranteed Issue/Pre Exisitng conditions.

Contact us now if you would like to re quote your Business Insurance, Worker’s Compensation or Health Insurance.

Shopping for Insurance and there are so many choices. How come whenever most people think of Insurance they think of LIFE INSURANCE? There is insurance for almost anything now. Why not call the Insurance company direct ~ why call an Insurance Agent or Insurance Broker.

An Independent Insurance Broker or Insurance Agent is that = Independent. They represent more than one company vs calling a Farmers Agent or Allstate Agent. Myself, I am an Independent agent AND I have friends that work as agents for Farmers, Allstate, State Farm, etc. So, I can get quotes all across the board.

Will it cost you more to go with an Independent Insurance Agent vs calling the company direct? What do you think? I am sure you’re reading this and know why I wrote this article.

OK – SO you call the company direct and get some tired person who has a headset on and if you are lucky has a good grasp of the English language. They are going to check every box and give you a quote that will be the best for their Company = not to benefit you. Have you noticed lately that if you do not ask every question – somehow you get kicked in the checkbook later?

AN Independent agent wants to keep you as a long term happy customer – so they will tell you what you need and what you don’t need. If you have a business – you will need Income coverage. How many Companies with clerks on the phone are going to mention that, let alone understand what it means when they have never had a business? Yes, a Independent Insurance Agent has to get their own Insurance too.

If you contact Blue Cross for Health Insurance for instance – they will quote you the same rates as an Independent agent. An Independent agent will tell you the good and bad of each Insurance COmpany and let you decide.

Ever call a Life Insurance company and get sucked in? Why not get quotes from ALL the Life Insurance Companies and decide on your own. Best way to decide is getting a company that is A rated.

How about Property and Casualty? Ever think you were charged too much? Ever cancel a policy mid stream? It can be done.

Let us know your experiences in the comment section.

Contact us if you are in California for a No Obligation Quote. IT’S FREE!!

Do you know anything about Medicare?

Are you turning 65 soon? Or are you helping someone who is turning 65 soon? When should you sign up for Medicare? Do you even need it? What does Medicare A, B cover? Keep reading for more tips.

1. Plan ahead. Do your homework. Being informed ahead of time will save you money and heart ache.

2. Nobody will notify you when it is time to sign up. You will just get tons of mail about Medicare and Pre Need Funeral Plans. You have to contact Medicare to start receiving benefits.

3. Start the sign up process 3 – 6 months before you turn 65.

4. Haven’t worked long enough to qualify? Investigate – you might qualify on your spouse’s info or pay for the difference.

5. You cannot be denied coverage if you sign up at the right time.
You qualify at 65 if you are a U.S. citizen or legal resident and you have worked for 10 years or earned 40 credits. You can also qualify if your spouse is a government employee and paid into Medicare. Same sex marriage is ignored.
Under 65? You can qualify if you have been entitled to Security disability benefit 24 months – does not have to be consecutive.

You can qualify if you have Lou Gehrig’s disease, permanent kidney failure or receive disability pension from the Railroad Retirement Board.
If you have less than 40 credits you can pay between $248 a month to $450 a month and still keep working to get your credits up to 40.

6. Medicare is not free and does not cover everything.

7. Medicare will not cover your dependents. There is no family coverage.

PART A
This part of Medicare pays for Hospital and skilled nurse facility, home health care, hospice care and medicine that is administered to inpatients. 2011 Part A has a $1,132 deductible.

PART B
Will help you pay for Doctor and outpatient services. This plan can be deducted from your Social Security or paid separately. The Premium ( monthly expense) is based on your income from the year before.

Is this confusing? Yes. OK ~ here is the rundown.

Medicare A – usually if you meet all requirements – 40 credits – nothing will come out of your poclet.

Medicare B – is an elective choice. You can pay for this at 65 and wait to collect your Social Security OR have the Social Security take payments for Part B our of your Social Security check. Payment amount varies depending on your income.

Medicare Supplement – to pay the difference that Medicare does not pick up – Premiums can cost you an average of $100 – $400 per month.

Part D Prescription Drug coverage – is not 100% coverage and basically gives you a discount – this is usually $50 – $100 per month.

PLUS – the Social Security office does not take credit cards to up automatic payments.

Want more information about Medicare? Or, need more information on Medicare Supplements in California…leave a comment below.

PART D
This will cover Prescription Drugs. This plan has to be purchased on its own. You will pay for your prescriptions while under this plan with a copay. Once you reach $2,840 in costs of Prescription there is a period called THE DONUT HOLE. Your plan will not pay anything – BUT – you will have a 50% discount on Brand Prescriptions. The gap reaches a limit at $4,550 and then the coverage resumes. Then you will be charged 5% of the cost of any RX until the end of the year.
